The Printer’s Print

On view October 16 – November 24, 2023

Exhibition Reception: October 19, 2023, 5-7 pm

This exhibition highlights the work of Nathan Catlin, Megan Foster, Tomas Vu and Craig Zammiello, distinguished master printers, who are also artists in their own right. As printers, they have guided a number of fellow artists, often new to the medium, to realize their own artistic visions. Collaborative printmaking relies on the unique working relationship forged between an artist and master printer. The independent artistic practices of Catlin, Foster, Vu and Zammiello – coupled with their mastery of printmaking – give them the rare ability not only to understand an artist’s aims but also share with them the tools and techniques of the medium. Operating out of the spotlight in their role as master printer, this exhibition focuses on their work, which often straddles different media including print, painting, ceramics and sculpture. Catlin, Foster, Vu and Zammiello together have collaborated on hundreds of editions as master printers. Their work is exhibited here alongside print projects by Mark Dion, William Kentridge, Robert Rauschenberg and Sarah Sze, selected by them and for which they served as the master printer.
